WORLD NUMBER 1 2019/2020, WORLD NUMBER 2 2022, 6 TIMES FRENCH CHAMPION,
2 TIMES WORLD RUNNER-UP, ÉLODIE'S PALMARES ARE IMPRESSIVE. SHE TELLS US ABOUT HER LIFE, HER SPORT, HER LOVE OF POOLS AND HER PASSION FOR CHLORINE.
"I'M A VICE OLYMPIC CHAMPION and today my ultimate dream is ahead of me: to be Olympic champion at the Paris Olympics next August in the modern pentathlon. It's a discipline I chose rather late: I was 19, I was a swimmer and I didn't qualify for Beijing. After failing to qualify, I decided to take up this new discipline. And that's what defines me, I'm someone who doesn't give up, who gets up again after the event. The modern pentathlon was a real challenge for me, as I'd never done any shooting or fencing, and horse-riding was a bad memory. I'd had a fall and decided never to do it again. I said yes, arrived at the Insep in Paris and there I worked hard to learn, and three and a half years later I qualified for the 2012 London Olympics.
I was so impressed that I went as a spectator of my own participation. In Rio, I was ready, I had built up my confidence,
and since London, I've been runner-up. I learned by leaving my family at a very early age to study sport, which was difficult for them and for me, to build myself up on my own, to look for perfection, for detail...
"I know that every detail counts, and like Chlore, I'm very demanding of myself."
...perfect, the right gesture. That's where I come into line with Chlore's values.
I know that every detail counts, and like Chlore, I'm very demanding with myself. What counts is not beating others, but the battle I have with myself.
I discovered Hélène's work, her swimsuits, on Insta, and I said to myself wow, this really corresponds to what I'm looking for, the fluidity, the flow that requires enormous efforts that remain invisible, the elegant line
I'm lucky enough to have a whole collection of them. The white one with the front zipper, so practical, was the first I wore, and I remember the admiring glances when I arrived at the poolside. White, when I'm tanned, is hot...
"What counts is not beating others, but the fight I have with myself."
"When I have a hard workout
I wear a model with a swimmer's back."
...It gives me optimum flotation, and I also feel pretty, it wears well and gives me confidence. When I have a hard workout, I wear a model with a swimmer's back, because I know that with its cut I'll never have sore trapezius muscles. The one with an open back that lets me feel the sensation of the water is very pleasant. Chlore swimsuits are my daily companion, and a black model with jeans is just great.
The bag, which holds my entire house and equipment for the other four disciplines, is the perfect size. The bathrobe I need to keep warm by the pool in winter, and to warm up quickly when I get out of the water, is indispensable. At the moment, I'm wearing a red swimsuit; it's the color of energy, renewal, heart, luck, it makes me vibrate, it's the one that's going to carry me through to the final event, on August 13 in Versailles."
